Support the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011
With organizations in
many other states, CCEJ is hoping to garner support for the federal Safe
Chemicals Act which has been introduced by Sen. Lautenberg (NJ)
and others. This legislation will help protect all Americans from toxic exposures by
creating new rules to limit dangerous chemicals in our consumer goods and ensuring
protections for vulnerable health communities.
We urge you to take a few minutes to craft a personalized letter to your senator
asking them to support this important legislation. We have included sample letter language
you may use as a base for your own letter.
I
am a (insert something like mom, dad, aunt, nurse, doctor, concerned citizen
etc). I am really concerned about toxic chemicals in consumer products and
their impact on my family’s health. I’m writing Senator (add Senator name) to ask him/her
to co-sponsor the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011. American
families deserve to be protected from toxic chemicals in our homes, workplaces
and communities.
