EJ GROUPS

  WEACT for Environmental Justice
West Harlem Action for Environmental Justice is one of the country's best run and most prominent EJ groups. Based in the Harlem section of Manhattan, WEACT has built community power to fight environmental racism and improve environmental health in communities of color for over 20 years.

Alternatives for Community and Environment(ACE)
ACE is a Boston-based group fighting environmental racism throughout New England. The organization has helped over 40 neighborhood groups battle environmental injustice in the Greater Boston area.

EJ Resource Center at Clark Atlanta University
The EJRC at Clark Atlanta highlights environmental justice efforts in the Deep South including responses to Hurricane Katrina. The site offers links to scholarly titles on EJ topics like landfills and transportation infrastructure and their effects on low-income people.

 

EJ Matters for Climate Change
EJ Matters has advocated strongly against cap-and-trade as a way to reduce fossil fuel emissions, pointing out its failures in Europe. The group has helped organize 150 EJ organizations to oppose plans for cap-and-trade in California.
