Hartford Asthma Speakers Bureau. Asthma is a major problem in Hartford. City residents suffer a 20% asthma rate, more than twice the rate for the rest of Connecticut. So, CCEJ started the Hartford Asthma Speakers Bureau to educate city residents about asthma and its treatment options.

All Aboard for Recycling! Hartford's recycling rate lags behind that of its suburbs by more than 50%. CCEJ's Recycling Speakers Bureaus have been behind a movement to reverse that finding. Started in 2009, the Bureaus have educated hundreds in the city on recycling and its value in creating a safe, healthy environment.

Fighting for Safe Chemical Policy in Connecticut. Many consumer goods feature unsafe levels of toxic chemicals; many of these goods are toys and products geared to children and low-income people. CCEJ has fought and won several state laws that now protect consumers from harmful chemicals in consumer goods.
